Jo Malone - Oasis Mirage

Oasis Mirage is located in Palm Springs, CA. Oasis Mirage collaborates with Jo Malone. We are trying to create a Secret Oasis for customers. We are trying to provide a dream feeling and create a strong contrast between Palm Springs and Oasis Mirage.

Sustainability Plants

Layered Planting:

  • Tall Trees: Provide shade and cool the environment (e.g., Acacia, Olive).

  • Shrubs: Retain soil moisture and block sunlight (e.g., Lavender, Oleander).

  • Ground Cover: Protects soil and keeps it moist.

Moisture Retention:

  • Layered planting shades and cools the soil.

  • Gullies direct water to plant roots.

    Inspiration:

    • Al Barari Community, Dubai:

    • 60% green space.

    • Forest-like design around residences.

Wind Cycle System

  • Inspiration: Wind Tower

    • The function of a wind tower tower is to catch cooler breeze that prevail at a higher level above the ground and to direct it into the interior of the buildings.

  • Wind Cycle in Oasos Mirage Main Building

    • Hot wind will come into the building during the night.

    • Hot wind will cool down the cool water (water pool & waterfall). The entire building will cool down by the cool wind.

    • The canopies create a 45-degree to help the hot wind go into the main building.

Eco-Friendly Systems:

  • Biogas Production: Converts waste into energy.

  • Compost: Improves nutrient-poor soil and reduces pests.

  • Water-Saving Solutions:

    • Filtered grey water for irrigation.

    • Drip irrigation minimizes water use.

    • Rainwater collection (cisterns) for year-round use.

    • Organic mulch reduces evaporation and adds nutrients.

Sustainability Wind

Cooling & Energy:

  • Low-pressure spray system adds humidity.

  • Solar panels for sustainable energy.

Public Space

The public space creates a dream and natural feeling. Most materials I chose are really natural materials. Like sandstone, oak wood, copper, green terrazzo and so. on.

Guest-room

The guest room uses fabric materials on the wall, trying to bring out a mirage feeling. Most of the plants used around the guest room are desert plants, which can help the hotel keep the sustainability ideas. We use less water to provide a forest feeling.
